THE STORY OF IMA ATHOL

Ima was born in 1888 to Bethesda and Broderick Atholintatacampeeton-ned. It was because of Ida’s last name of Atholintatacampeeton-ned that her first grade teacher requested extra time on tests for Ida to print her name. The teacher, LuLu Shorking, accused of favoritism, was fired. For years LuLu worked on shortening names and words and founded the lifestyle of Shorking.

Taking tests became a huge challenge for Ima and was probably the reason she never graduated from first grade. Years later Lulu Shorking convinced Ima to shorten her last name. By that time Ima, age 40 and suitcase in hand, left her parents and ventured to the land we now call Athol.
